Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Almost Done Dating ("we," "us") collects when you apply, how it is used, who else handles it, and the choices you have.

Who this applies to

This policy applies to people who apply to or take part in Almost Done Dating, a matchmaking service currently running as a free, invitation-based pilot. You must be 21 or older to apply.

What we collect

From your application:

• Contact details: first and last name, email address, phone number.
• Age and location: birth month and year (not your full date of birth), city, state and ZIP code. We do not ask for a street address.
• Relationship information: your relationship goals, readiness, availability, what you are looking for in a partner (such as age range, children and lifestyle), factors that would make someone not the right fit, and how flexible each preference is.
• Your written answers, stored as you wrote them.
• Acknowledgments you check on the form, and when you checked them.
• How you heard about us, if you tell us.

Optional sensitive questions: your religious or spiritual affiliation and how important shared faith or values are to you; your racial or ethnic background; and your racial or ethnic preference for a partner. You may skip all of these.

From working with you: notes from conversations with the matchmaker, introductions we suggest, whether you accept or decline them, and feedback you give after meeting someone.

Sensitive information and your consent

Near the end of the application is an optional consent checkbox for sensitive information.

• If you check it, we store your answers to the optional sensitive questions and use them only to review your application and consider introductions.
• If you do not check it, we do not store your answers to the optional sensitive questions in our matchmaking records.
• Written answers are different. If you include sensitive details in a written answer, we store that answer as you wrote it, whether or not you checked the box. Leave such details out if you do not want them kept.
• You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing hello@almostdonedating.com. We will stop using those answers and remove them from your active application record. Some earlier history records may remain, as explained under "Keeping and deleting information."

How we use your information

• To review your application and decide whether to accept it, place it on a waitlist or decline it. A person reviews every application; no decision is made by software alone.
• To contact you by email, phone call or text message about your application and the matchmaking services you requested, if you agreed to this on the form. We do not send marketing messages. Reply STOP to any text to stop texts.
• To consider and arrange introductions.
• To follow up after introductions and improve how we make matches.
• To keep a record of your acknowledgments and consent choices.
• To comply with the law and to protect the safety of members and others.

We do not sell your information. We do not use it for advertising. We will not use it for any other product or service without asking you first.

Introductions

Before an introduction, we share your first name and general details relevant to the match with the other person. We do not share your answers to the optional sensitive questions. We share contact details only after both people agree to the introduction.

Who can see your information

• The matchmaker who operates the service.
• The service providers listed below, only so they can run their services for us.
• A potential match, limited as described under "Introductions."
• Others when the law requires it, or when needed to protect someone's safety.
• A new operator, if the service is transferred. We would tell you before that happens.

Service providers

These providers may process information in the United States or other countries where they operate. Each has its own privacy policy.

The form provider's copy

Your application goes to Tally first, then to our database. Until we confirm that your application has been recorded in our database, Tally holds a copy of everything you entered, including answers to the optional sensitive questions even if you did not check the consent box. After we confirm that your application has been recorded in our database, we remove the submission from Tally as part of our application-processing procedure.

Troubleshooting records

If your application cannot be processed, we keep a record of the error and a copy of your answers so we can fix the problem and process your application. That copy leaves out your answers to the optional sensitive questions unless you gave consent. Applications from people under 21 are not stored.

Keeping and deleting information

We keep your information while your application is being considered and while you take part, and afterward for as long as we need it to run the service, answer questions and keep a record of your consent choices.

We do not currently delete information automatically. We review records and delete them by hand.

You can ask us to delete your information. We will delete or anonymize what we can. Our system keeps a history of changes to records, so we handle deletion requests through a manual process, and a limited record may remain where we need it, such as a record that you withdrew consent or asked for deletion, or where the law requires it.

Your choices

We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on a request. We aim to respond within 45 days.

Protecting your information

We collect only what we need to run the service, limit access to the matchmaker, and rely on our service providers' access controls. No method of storing or sending information is completely protected, and we cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed without permission. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as the law requires.

Age requirement

The service is only for people 21 and older. If we learn that we hold information from someone under 21, we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We will post any update here with a new effective date. If a change affects how we use information we already hold, we will email you before it takes effect.
